Globe International, a Mongolian NGO has completed the project “Defamation and Censorship” under the US Embassy grant. The project implemented from October 1, 2009 to February 15, 2010.  

Globe International, a Mongolian NGO has organized a seminar “Defamation and Censorship” on February 9, 2010 at Puma Imperial Hotel.  In total, 32 participants representing media, journalists, lawyers and NGOs attended the seminar.  

Office of the Citizens’ Hall registered today the citizens wishing to take part in the  public discussion of the draft Law on Freedom of Press at the Citizens’ Hall on January 12, 2010.

A national workshop “Production, exchange and dissemination of the business information" is going to be held 9-10 December, 2009, in Nukht resort, Ulaanbaatar.

Globe International completed the project “Monitoring Press Freedom and Supporting Independent Media in Mongolia” which started in October 2008. The present report period is October 1, 2008 and October 1, 2009.

Main goal of this 12-month project was to promote greater democratisation and openness in Mongolia by campaigning for the public’s right to have access to free and uncensored news and government information.

Globe International has completed the Free Expression Violation Monitoring project which is supported by OSI Media Network Programme and the IFEX in October 2009.  The IFEX financed the activities aimed at increasing distribution of Mongolian free expression news is a part of the project and it has started in September 2008.

On Nov 9, 2009, the Globe International NGO in cooperation with the Open Society Forum NGO, the Secretariat of the Committee of National Human Rights Program and the Access to Justice Project, UNDP has organized a consultative meeting on “Civil and Political Rights”.

With 6 year in a row of own history making,  channel tv-9 already has achieved nation-wide recognition and keeps tradition of introducing innovation in general. On 6th year anniversary, TV-9 television, following international standard, first time established public counsel for the channel out of all private television in the country. Nation-wide recognition of the channel has been made into reality within a extremely short period of time.

Globe International is starting new project   titled  “Defamation and Censorship”  funded by the Embassy of  the United states, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The proposed project is aimed at contributing to the dispensation of justice and democratization in Mongolia by protecting the rights of journalists to practice their profession through exposing the facts of censorship and nexus of defamation and censorship, reinforcing discussions on how defamatory legislation and use of the defamation laws affect the journalists’ rights’ and  encourage self-censorship among the journalists
