The conference is planning to be held at the end of 2009. In the frame of the EU-funded project “Business Roaming”, aiming at improving access to economic information and data critical to decision making for herders and rural SMEs in Mongolia, Internews Europe (www.internews.fr ) and Globe International (www.globeinter.org.mn) are organising a regional meeting in Ulan Bator to discuss the role of information & ICTs in rural development.

 An agreement on cooperation has been established between the MONTSAME News Agency of Mongolia and the International Broadcasting Bureau (IBB) in an effort to promote open communication of information and ideas among the people of the world. This agreement has been signed by T.Baasansuren, the Director-General of the MONTSAME agency and Doug Boynton, the Director of the Office of Marketing and Program Placement of the IBB.

The “Empowering Public Council to Curb Government Corruption“ project reached the goals. The project  implemented by Public Council Empowering Team (PCET) onsisted from seven members in cooperation with the Public Council of the Anti-corruption Agency of Mongolia.

The follow up meeting is aimed to get proper understanding of results and real outcomes of herders training, to understand the weaknesses and problems of information brokers on their daily business and to organize small workshop for them. Objectives of the trip are:

The “Zavkhan” newspaper has appealed the Special Court disagreeing with a judgment of the Appellate Courts which approved a decision by the courts of first instance.

Mongolia's National News Agency MONTSAME and Turkish News Agency Anadolu will cooperate in the information exchange to boost the relations and cooperation between Mongolia and Turkey.

Parliament passed June 30, 2009 a bill to amend the Law on Advertisement that will allow the media to advertise wine, beer and traditional Mongolian milk vodka that contains up to 18 degrees of ethyl spirit.

According to the amendment, the advertisement on calling for consumption of alcoholic drinks was prohibited. Moreover, it has legalized to use a warning “Harmful for your health in exceed usage’ when spreading such advertisement under allowed legal terms.
